Boston Whale Watching

If you go on one of the Boston whale watching cruises that take place off of the New England coast each year, you are likely to encounter some whale, most notably the Humpback, Minkes and Finback whales.

You can book a whale watching tour and see these mammals as well as other sea creatures when you book Boston whale watching tours.

The Humpback whales are the most endangered species of whale and are abundant off of the Northwestern coast. You can see them during late summer and fall when you take one of the Boston whale watching excursions. These large mammals are actually gentle creatures and are known to be singing whales. They can even hit notes so high that they can only be picked up by other whales and are not audible to humans. The call of the Humpback whales is thought to be a mating call. If you take a Boston whale watching tour, chances are that you will see Humpback whales off of the coast of New England.

Minkes are small whales that are almost the size of dolphins. They are very abundant off of the New England coast and you will most likely see the Minkes whales when you take a Boston whale watching tour during the months of September through October. These whales are not hunted in the United States, but are in Japan and Norway for their meat. They are considered to be an abundant species, although not much is known about their history and lifestyle.

Finbacks are among the largest of all whales and are second only to the Blue Whale in size. They can be as large as 70 feet long and have a pleated lower jaw. The lower jaw of the Finback whales make them very distinctive from other whales. You can see the Finback whale when you take a Boston whale watching tour.

In addition to seeing whales when you go on your Boston whale watching tour, you can also see other sea creatures as well. You might get a look at the White Sided Dolphin, a dolphin that is only found in the North Atlantic ocean. You will see that these dolphins travel in pods and also, in some cases, may see a super pod that contains thousands of these dolphins. You have your best chance to see the White Sided Dolphin when you take a Boston whale watching cruise during the months of August through October.

You can enjoy a cruise that will allow you to see some of the largest and interesting creatures of the sea when you take a Boston whale watching cruise. You can find out more about booking a Boston whale watching tour by going online and making your plans. Again, the best time to book your Boston whale watching tour is though the late summer to mid autumn.
